Scammers use the 870 area code to make fake legal threats and Social Security administration calls. They claim you are facing a lawsuit or disability fraud charges to panic you into paying.
Threatens that uniformed officials will arrive unless the victim provides the last four digits of their SSN.

Falsely claims a disability application is pending to phish for SSNs.

Area code 327 was added as part of an overlay complex in 2024. Mandatory ten-digit dialing of area code 870 started on January 19, 2024. The NANPA projects a boundary elimination overlay involving all three Arkansas numbering plan areas ( 479 , 501 and 870/327), resulting in a statewide overlay; details for such have not been released.
